French Cycle Race 1899

Paris–Roubaix —  is a professional one day cycle race. Among other one day cycle races it's the thord oldest one and one of the most prestigious.
These photos were taken on the 2nd of April, 1899.


The cycle race has been held since 1896. Till 1967 the route corresponded to its name: it started in Paris and finished in Roubaix.
 

The cycle race is also well-known for its trails. 26 sections of paving with the general length of 50 km is prepared by volunteers before the competition.
 

In 1899 the cup stayed in France, in the hands of Albert Champion.
